Wealth to Knowledge…

Yesterday was a busy and interesting day. I met with a PhD student on campus and we discussed the idea of shifting from a wealth or money-based economy to a knowledge-based economy. In a nutshell, money is a scarce resource that only a few of us in the world claim a majority stake.

  • Trust me, it made my head hurt just pondering it afterwards. That's the main reason this post was so long. I could have easily written 1000 words or more but most of you would fall asleep. All humor aside, I truly believe this to be a major social issue that we will all have to come to grips with, not just us 'boring' economists.

  • You know...after thinking about this for a while(I read this post last night), I realized the striving for knowledge will ultimately give you power, wealth..

  • I agree. Everything starts with knowledge then the rest will fall into place. Unfortunately, there is so much disparity with the diffusion of education across social and economic groups. i.e. the rich have access to the best education resources on one extreme and the poor have little to nothing on the other.
